Sleep, or lack thereof.

Are any of your babies STILL sleeping like newborns? I swear Marcus is getting worse. He does a 3-ish hour chunk when he first goes to bed and then is up every 1-2 hours. To make matters worse he's started refusing to co-sleep, so I'm up and down all night. I'm so tired I don't even know what to do with myself.

Talking?
Here I am.....

Had anyone experienced the 1st word yet? My daughter will be 6 months tomorrow (WHOA!) and today she looked directly at me and said "Mama." She also said "Baba" and reached for it. I was shocked, but super excited! And a picture just for fun! :)

Teeth?

Whose little ones have teeth already? Marcus cut his first tooth last week, at 4.5 months. Bit of a surprise, since his brother didn't get any until 9 months. I have a feeling there's another one on the way too, as he's drooling constantly!

5 months?!?!?!?

June Update
Here I am.....
crazey_03
Baby's name: Sophie Renee
Birth date/age: June 20, so 4 months today! Whoa where has the time gone!
Most current length & weight: 26 inches and 15.5 lbs long and lean

What milestones has your baby hit most recently or you're most excited about? Anything they're working on now?
She rolled from belly to back twice yesterday and is working on tripod sitting! She giggles so much now and I love that! Oh and we are pretty sure she has started teething, yikes!

How's sleeping? Have you hit the four month sleep regression? How have you handled it? Any tips to pass on or advice you'd like?
Well I really can't complain her sleeping has always been amazing she has gone to sleep on her own at 7:45 every night since she was 4 weeks old and wakes up at about 8:30am. She does wakes up once around 1am to eat but goes right back to sleep. BUT last night she decided she would wake up about 6 times because she was ohmygoshstarving!

What's your favorite and least favorite thing about this age?
Favorite-she can do so many more things and babbles all the time!
Least favorite-she gets frustrated because she is not as mobile as she wants to be but we did recently buy her a jumperoo and she LOVES it!

Are you dressing the baby up for Halloween? We must have a Halloween picture post! Yes she is going as a watermelon. Pictures will come!

Any questions you have for the other moms? Yes, have any of you other moms noticed the breast buds developing? My daughters became swollen a few weeks ago and everytime my husband picks her up his thumbs hit them and it totally freaks him out. Our doctor explained that this is completly normal and all that jazz but both his mother and grand mother had breast cancer a few years ago so I think that is leading to his paranoia.

Baby's name: Ziva
Birth date/age: 6.17.11
Most current length & weight: 26 inches & 14 pounds - She's very tall and lean!

What milestones has your baby hit most recently or you're most excited about? Anything they're working on now? She rolls EVERYWHERE and in any direction - she also spins around in her crib.  She's very grabby and likes to pick up and put down her toys.  She holds her bottle (and sometimes gets mad if you help also).  It's great that she finds her pacifier herself now and can put it in her mouth.  I also feel like she's getting the hang of getting dressed and is starting to help out - like flail her arm up into a shirt instead of just swatting randomly.. this is probably all in my head but it still makes me happy haha

How's sleeping? Have you hit the four month sleep regression? How have you handled it? Any tips to pass on or advice you'd like?
She has always been a really good sleeper.  Usually goes to bed around 8ish and the sleeps until around 7ish.  If she wake up before 7, I usually just grab her out of her crib and put her in our bed and she falls back asleep.  It was a little rough when I went back to work 2 weeks ago, but we're adjusting and are so thankful that she figured out how to sleep well on her own.

What's your favorite and least favorite thing about this age?
Favorite:
I looove that big ole gummy smile!  She's adorable in the mornings when she wakes up.  She either grabs her feet and rolls side to side while "talking" or rolls onto her tummy and talks to herself until we hear her and go in and get her.  I also love how she's getting more vocal and will talk to me, my husband, the dog, and her toys.
Least Favorite: Going back to work :( (but she only poops during the day so day care has to change all the poop diapers!)  Also, she still won't laugh.  She will smile and start to giggle but then coughs instead of laughing.  The coughing was adorable 2 months ago but now I'm dying for a real laugh.

Are you dressing the baby up for Halloween? Yes, of course.  She is going as a package of ketchup!  She has a little Zebra outfit to wear to daycare during the day because the ketchup is a bunting costume and would be a pain for them.  I have no idea if we're even going anywhere but she needed a costume.

Any questions you have for the other moms? Is anyone else starting solids?  I can't think of any.  We got the okay to start solids from the dr today but I feel like it's too soon and she's growing up too quickly!  So, we're going to wait.  I also like the idea of baby led weaning but my brain has been programmed into starting mushy stuff first so I'm hoping to delay at least a few more weeks so we can start with more foodlike items and I won't be as nervous.

Pictures!

My boy. He's crawling. What.. The.. Eff?

It's an army drag, but it's mobility nonetheless. Way to set off the first day of 4 months, son.

teething?!
Here I am.....
crazey_03
My daughter, Sophie, was born June 20th (my birthday) and she has just started teething. Her gums are super hard and white just where the teeth should be. Has anyone else had a tooth pop thru yet? My DS didn't get his first tooth until 13 months but he was 10 weeks premature so I don't really have anything to base her off of.

Oh and a picture just for fun!

Baby's name: Ziva Claire but I generally call her Stinky Butt. Sadly this is the one nickname that has stuck so far even though she usually doesn't have a stinky butt

Birth date: 6/17
Weight: 11lbs 2oz so right in the 75% percentile

Height: 24 inches - still off the charts for this tall gir

Sleeping: Amazing and I keep thanking her for how lucky we are!  She was doing a nice 6hr chunk at night which changed to 7.5 hours this past Monday.  Last night she slept for 9 hours straight which was pretty amazing.  She's definitely awake more during the day but still also takes her naps like a champ.

Feeding: She was eating every 3 hours while awake like clockwork.  Now that she's sleeping longer at night she eats anywhere from every 2.5-4 hours so just whenever she's hungry - at this point it's 4-6oz.. usually still 4 oz but then she'll be hungrier in the evenings while she's stockpiling her food away for sleep.

Milestones: Smiling all the time, holds head up really well and has rolled over a few times (but Im pretty sure that's just cause she was positioned properly - isn't it too soon?), follows our voices around the room and follows toys, loves hitting the toys on her playmat/the bar above it.  instead of laughing she coughs cause she can't make that giggle sound yet but it's still adorable to me haha

Likes: Sleeping on me or dad, watching the dog run around the room, funny faces or silly songs, food, ceiling fans, her mobile, car rides, laying on her back just looking around the room

Dislikes: She's not a big fan of shots we learned today, doesn't like when food doesn't come fast enough for her liking, tummy time for more than a few minutes, being burped in the middle of eating

How is Mom doing: Mom is doing pretty well.  I'm very happy that she's such a good sleeper and hope that never ever changes!  I'm starting to get really upset thinking about going back to work in a few weeks.  I've put off calling my job every day for the last 2 weeks or so because I just don't want to even though I know I have to.  I did make the effort and called today and, of course, the HR person wasn't in and didn't call me back.  I tried!  Started Weight Watchers recently - I lost all my pregnancy weight but I would really like to smaller and fit into the rest of my clothing.

Pictures under the cut..Collapse )

I really hope that cut worked for the pictures!
