Here I am.....

Had anyone experienced the 1st word yet? My daughter will be 6 months tomorrow (WHOA!) and today she looked directly at me and said "Mama." She also said "Baba" and reached for it. I was shocked, but super excited! And a picture just for fun! :)

She spent all day today saying the same words over and over! :)

Yay! I thought we were going loopy and didn't really believe it was possible, but Emily has been saying 'da dee' when she sees her dad for the past week or so, she's 5 1/2 months and doesn't say it (well, maybe the odd once or twice) when he's not there so maybe it is 'real' :-)

I too thought we were going loopy but I immediately called my mother-in-law and let her hear it over the phone without telling her what I thought she said and her response was "did she just say Mama?!" so I knew we weren't losing it! :)

No not yet. More sounds but no clear words. Exciting times ahead!

It seriously happened over night for us, definitely exciting times!!

He's not even babbling with consonants consistently yet, definitely no words (although sometimes I swear he uses "hey" and "yeah" intentionally...). His dad didn't talk til three, so no big shocker if he's a bit slow on that one. He's definitely starting to understand some words, though, which is the important thing.

OMG, our E uses "hey!" a lot too. It's hilarious.

Which words do you feel like he is starting to understand?

I think E is starting to understand "Milk" and we are also trying to teach him "dog."

It's hard to tell because he says MaMa a lot, but he seems to be getting closer to symbolic talk. Like he says Mmmmmm sometimes when he wants Milk (I call it "Milk!" before feeding him).

I am thinking of teaching him some signs too because some people say if you start those around 6 months they can pick up on some of them by 8-9 months.

a few weeks ago she did yell "A" when her daddy came in from work and said "Hey" it was cute then too :)

Little boy did this as soon as I left the room to brush my teeth today. My +1 was holding him and he stared at the door and said 'mama? mama maamaa maaaamaaaaa!' and looked at me and said 'mama :D' when I got back.
He says 'ah-dee' too but that one isn't as frequent. He also said 'baba' when he wanted his bottle, but that's only happened once so far.

Since this original post we have heard "Mama", "Baba", "ah-dee" and "ah-bee" (when she looks at herself in the mirror) They are growing up so fast! :)
